Where You’re Most Likely To Get Killed As A Pedestrian In The United States
Pedestrian accidents are, unfortunately, on the increase. The Governors Highway Safety Administration reported that there were 6590 pedestrian casualties in 2019, an improvement of 5% over 2018. This is a 60% rise in fatalities since 2009.

Unsafe driving habits, such as speeding, distracted and sleepy driving, and drug impairment by the driver and/or pedestrian involved almost half of the pedestrian fatalities. Other important factors include talking and texting on cell phones, eating while driving, GPS programming, make-up, and other behaviors that take the driver's eyes away from the road.
