For the first time, the outcome of the new Opinium poll placed Labor leader Keir Starmer ahead of Boris Johnson on the issue of who the public thinks will be the best prime minister. Although still a close result (37 and 35 percent, respectively), the figures are yet another sign of Johnson's wavering support in the Covid-19 crisis.
The same survey shows that almost half of the country currently disapproves of the government's handling of the pandemic (46 percent) compared to just 36%. By Johnson's own, 43 percent said they disapproved of the job he was doing, while 37 percent said they supported it.
