The COVID-19 Impact on Advertising Spend
Prior to the outbreak of COVID-19, global advertising investment was estimated to grow by 7.1 percent in 2020. It is now projected that there is a brutal contraction of 8.1%—equivalent to approximately $ 50 billion — as a result of shifting consumer behavior. The overall loss is grim $96.4 billion when pre-pandemic growth projections are taken into account.

As advertisers respond to increasing in-home media consumption, the ad dollar tug-of-war between online and conventional media seems to be a definitive winner.
